Cricket Lamp Parts
Every day is eventful to me. A client in the Boston area sent me some pictures of his Gerald Thurston cricket lamp. In need of a bent white glass panel. Until that day I couldn’t tell you who Gerald Thurston was. By the end of the week I had made 10 white bent flashed glass panels for Gerald Thurston cricket lamps. The lamp design was ahead of its time. Something I would credit to the new look of many 1970 lamps. I also think the design would have worked out great for the Pixar jumping lamp we all know about. (See video here).
Gerald Thurston Cricket lamp glass diffuser early 1950-1959
After doing my research on mid century lighting. A period of lighting I had no prior interest in. I was contacting my list of antique dealers. Expressing my new found niche and my collection of bent white opal flashed glass diffuser that will fit the 1950’s Thurston Cricket lamp. I also googled and found several auction sites listing the cricket lamp with NO diffuses. I contacted them by phone and sold six of my glass diffuses by the end of the day. The moral of the article. “It’s hard to sell a lamp if its broken”..
