Finding your Tiffany antique lamp repair story
Just about every style Tiffany antique lamp or slag glass lamp repair has a story. I’ve enjoyed hearing them for many years and thought it would be nice to share some of the (230 +) stories, history and pride my clients have about their lamps.
I also want to say I find it extremely rewarding knowing I’m able to help people perform the repairs.
Hey Len! Just got my box and opened it up. I was honestly shocked at how well the restoration went. I put the shade back together and “lost” the repair. That’s how well it came out. I’ll add a picture for you as well as a nice testimonial. Thanks again. I would do business again with you in a heartbeat. Should other projects come along where molding glass is required, you are the man.

I haven’t been collecting very long, but some mentors have told me to never buy a slag glass lamp with broken panels as it is a bad idea and restoration is a dying art. When I walked into one of my favorite antique store I saw this lamp in pieces sitting on the floor being overlooked by many that passed. I knelt down and saw that this was an 8 panel slag glass Bradley and Hubbard lamp. From that moment I picked it up and didn’t put it back down. I purchased it without regret because I knew that someone out there had to be capable of doing the work and Len Daley was the man. His recommendation to repair the existing panels allowed the original glass to be retained and the repair is almost invisible. It looks as though a piece of hair is laid over the glass at certain angles. This lamp now sits proudly in my dining room and is loved by the family. As I write this the light from the lamp illuminates the room and I hope it does so for many years to come. Thank you again.
The value of something is a deeply personal thing: whether something’s sentimental value is greater than its intrinsic value depends upon the person, and what they hold as meaningful - such as an old table lamp.
Twenty-seven years ago, my husband purchased an extraordinary slag glass table lamp as a surprise for me: I’d returned to post-secondary school in my mid-30s, completing a two year program at a local technology institute, had obtained a new job and been sent to Ottawa, Ontario for five weeks of training. The lamp was to be a “congratulations and welcome home” gift.
When I arrived home and first saw the lamp, I couldn’t believe how lovely it was - and how sweet and thoughtful it was for my husband to have found and purchased it as he did. (He’s a quiet fellow, a gentle man and a gentleman both - very unassuming and introspective, not someone who normally enjoys poking about shops.)
The lamp was incredible in terms of its design, size (very large, very weighty), workmanship, and beauty; it was quite unlike anything I’d ever seen. We set the lamp on our dining room table, a place it could be safely seen and enjoyed each day. Just to see it there was a reminder of why it’d been bought, and for 25 years it sat in quiet beauty.
Last year, however, problems arose. Click here for more
Hi Len,
As you can see the lamp was restored perfectly. Len your work is impeccable.
This lamp has been in my family since the early 1900’s. My Grandparents had it in their home until my uncle inherited it in 1958. During the dismantling of his home after he passed in 1983, a glass panel in the lamp was damaged during the move.
I recently acquired the lamp from my sister for safe keeping and decided to restore the broken panel.
So happy I did.
Thank you.
Hello Len, would like to say thanks again for the lamp repair and looks great! Glad to have it back in working repair like it was when I grew up around the lamp. A little history about the lamp. The lamp was purchased by my 2nd Great grandparents Frank Wilson and Mary Wilson (Lowe) of Niagara Falls NY, the lamp was passed down to my Great Grandparents Karl Reno Sr and Virginia Reno (Wilson) also of Niagara Falls NY. It was then passed to my Grandfather and Grandmother Karl Reno Jr and Lorraine Reno (Bielec) and lamp stayed in Niagara Falls NY till the late 1980s when it was moved to Bowling Green KY when my grandparents moved here with my father. It stayed with my grandparents until it was given to me August 2021 and I flew it out to California. When I packaged up the lamp I knew one of the panels would break as it already had some large cracks in it and the pull string was missing. When I was told it was the lamp of my 2nd Great Grandparents it was something I wanted to send out and get repaired. I was happy I did as it looks beautiful again as I remember it when I was younger. When I was talking to my father about the lamp and told him I went ahead and replaced the shade that didn’t match he told me my grandparents had that shade replaced when he was a child when it broke. Attached is a photo of my 2nd Great Grandfather on the far bottom left that originally purchased this lamp. I also attached some photos of the lamp after all the great repairs you did to it. Thanks again for the help with this.
Len, I received the restored lamp shade back and I can't thank you enough for the beautiful work you did on it. In the shape it was in when it was sent to you, I can't believe how beautifully you put it back together. You did a perfect job matching all the colors, repairing all the leading, and putting it back in shape. When my wife and I moved from Florida to Georgia last year I hired professional movers, or so I thought, to move us. They were told how valuable this lamp was to me so they packed it themselves and said they would take care of it, we trusted it would arrive in one piece. As you know this was not the case and when it arrived it was completely bent out of shape, there were over 20 pieces of broken glass, and the leading was all bent, I was devastated and didn't think I could ever get repaired to its original glory. I am so thankful that I was able to find you on the internet and that you took the time and with such care restored it for me. As long as I can remember this lamp sat on my parent's nightstand. I believe they owned it for more than 50 years themselves, and it was around 50 years old when they found it. I always admired it and when my Father passed away a few years ago, I inherited it and it has sat on my nightstand ever since. Now, thanks to you we can pass it down to our children and it can be enjoyed for another 100 years. I can't thank you enough.
Review:
Last summer, my husband and I moved our heirloom slag glass lamp from Wisconsin to Boston. It's been in my family for 5 generations, and when my parents recently downsized, we got it. Unfortunately, despite its inherent beauty, the lamp was starting to show its age with peeling paint, corrosion, and a break in the metal work, and we were a bit self-conscious about putting it on display in the living room given the state of it. So, this beauty has been hiding in a back bedroom for the last 6 months until I found Len. Len is a master of his craft! Right away he started to tell me things about the lamp that I thought we would never know, like where it was made, how the glass got its unique finish, even a range of manufacturing dates! And now that Len has given the lamp a new paint job, fixed the breaks, and brought the wiring up to date, we are proud to have the lamp in its rightful place in the living room!
The lamp arrived safely last night. I am thrilled!! I was so excited to get it set up and turn the light on to see the light shine through the glass. It did not disappoint. It is magical and immediately brought me back to a different time. Where life must have been more simple and artistry was imbedded in things like lamps. Your work is amazing and I appreciate all the time and expertise you applied to restore the lamp. As you know, the lamp, especially the brass and glass of the shade, was in very rough shape. We had stored it in our basement for about 20 years. It was a gift from my husbands mother who got it from her mother-in-law who lived in upstate NY. For me, life was busy with kids and work and the lamp was neglected. Our COVID quarantine provided the time to clean out the basement which prompted me to focus on the lamp and research options to fix it. Everyone I talked to highly recommended you and so my son and I journeyed to Newport RI to deliver the lamp to you. Since I was married in Newport my son really enjoyed visiting and seeing the church where we were married, the place of our reception and so many more things Newport is known for, the cliff walk, the mansions and the amazing ocean views. The lamp now serves as a reminder of our time there together and I hope he will one day enjoy this lamp in his own home. Thank you again for doing such an incredible job restoring the lamp and keeping history alive for generations to enjoy!
Len is a lifesaver!
We purchased this 110-year-old lamp at an estate sale several years ago, It belonged to a prominent family in Moore County, North Carolina. Three weeks ago, I was horrified when my cleaning lady knocked it over and broke one of the panels. We immediately searched the internet and found Len's website for lamp repair. Within two weeks, my lamp was as good as new. He wastes no time in getting the repair done-most of the two weeks was shipping time. I mailed a single panel to him and he used it as a pattern to make a panel to replace the broken one. He matched the glass very well and no one will be able to tell which panel was replaced. I am so thankful there is a craftsman such as Len who can save the beautiful creations from yesteryear. I highly recommend Len as he is knowledgeable, speedy, and does excellent work!
Mr. Daley,
I've attached a picture of the fully restored lamp. The wiring uses all original components, except for a few Wago connectors and LED light bulbs.
This lamp has been in my family for many years. I am 78 years old. The family legend is that this lamp was the first item my grandparents purchased when they went off to set up their own household back in the early 1900's. It now sits in a prominent location in my bedroom.
Thanks for your help in making this restoration possible.
Wow! It's amazing what new glass has done for this poor old thing! Len my friend, you are brilliant! Pun intended... I bought this lamp on Ebay almost as an accident, it needed work, a lot of work! Now, I have a sweetheart of a lamp. Thanks for all you have done. +G
Hi Len,
We received the pieces and re-assembled the lamp per your suggestions and it looks great!
See attached.
Here’s a testimony that you can use:
My wife acquired a set of two lamps from her great aunt in Chicago about 30 years ago. They’ve been a family heirloom for the last hundred years or so.
During a recent move from IL to KY one of the lamps was damaged by the movers, mostly due to an inadequate packing job by their packers. Two of the glass panels were broken, one of each color.
We weren’t sure we could get the panes replaced, but fortunately we found Len.
Although we reached out to a few sources that we found online, Len was the most responsive and also seemed to know more about these lamps and how to repair them than any of the other sources.
We sent him the broken panes and samples of panes that were not broken, and a week later we received replacement panes.
PLUS, not only did he replace the single blue pane, but he sent us all new blue panes since the original color was discontinued…all to do the job RIGHT and have all the blue panes match each other. A great example of exceeding our expectations.
We highly recommend Len.

So I was wrestling with my grandchildren and knocked my wife’s great grandmother’s lamp off the table. Breaking a panel and bending the frame. Needless to say I was in the doghouse. Research led me to Len’s work and I set about mailing my precious cargo. Work was done immediately and the finished shade was mailed back with great applause from my wife. Here are some pics:
Len!
Thank you so much for this very useful information! Well, for someone who found the lamp to be a challenge, your final product didn't show it! I was wondering how you could possibly fix the glass panel as the glass is bent at such an extreme angle. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge, talent and time on my lamp. I have learned so much from you and it's been so interesting. I'm looking foward to putting these beautiful bulbs inside the lamp. Good to know that the lamp is in good condition for it's age. I feel so accomplished (though all the work and credit goes to you) that it was saved!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Len, and I'll be in touch again when I find my next amazing lamp! You may have exposed me to an entirely new hobby an interest. And thank you for helping me! I would suggest you to anyone with a lighting need. You are an artist who preserves such beauty. And, your customer service is beyond comprehension!
All the best,
Len, Thank you so much for the beautiful work you did on my Grandmother’s Lamp! The base of lamp needed to be rewired for years and the broken glass in the base replaced. It looks perfect now. The lamp has moved with me from Brookline Ma, where it was given to me by my Grandmother in 1971 then around to different apartments in Boston to Cape Cod, where it lives now! Thanks again so much for returning it to its beautiful glory!!!
Len - I am really SO GRATEFUL to you!
I really cannot say enough about Len's work -- he is an amazing artist and also an incredibly nice person. We are staying in the house of a relative who took us in during a mid-pandemic move (long story complicated by border closures), and our little cat decided to say thanks by almost immediately breaking two panels in the beautiful, and very valuable, slag glass lamp on top of the piano. I called a hundred lamp repair stores in the country where we're living, but no one could help -- and then I found Len, who immediately set my fears to rest and assured me that he could replace the broken panels with new ones. I shipped the panels to him, which took forever thanks to the slow mail service right now, and Len had to keep talking me off the cliff when I became convinced that the panels had gotten lost in the mail. He fixed them and mailed them back to me within days, and when they arrived here, he had to calm me down for a third time as he very patiently walked me through the process of reinserting the panels. I finally figured it out, and now you cannot even tell which panels are original and which are reproductions. It is a miracle! Honestly we do not know what we would've done without him. If anything, he should charge more for the truly excellent work he does!
Hi Len — I apologize for the delay in getting this testimonial to you. Things have been rather hectic around our home for the past 5 months or so. I wanted you to know that we were extremely pleased with your repair of our slag lamp shade. I inherited it from my Grandmother, through my Mother, many years ago. I was leery to send it through the mail, but we followed your packing instructions to a tee, and nothing was damaged. We’re not sure how it was damaged, but we suspect it was possibly damaged when we moved it for safe keeping in anticipation of a hurricane. I have included photos of the before and after. You cannot even tell that it was repaired. That is how good your work is. Thanks again. Hope this helps with your business.
Hi Len,
The lampshade arrived perfectly and you have done a wonderful job my husband and I are very pleased. I am sick in bed right now and as soon as I feel better I will take some pictures and get it to your website. You are a very talented individual. Thank you so much.

Len,
My wife bought the lamp at an estate auction about thirteen years ago, it being one of those rare occasions where I accompanied her to the event. Anyway, she saw the lamp, fell in love with it, had to have it, and it made three moves with us (I was in the military) before we wound up in the Hill Country of Texas.
So as all folks do, we were rearranging the furniture one day (for the third or fourth time) and my wife bumped the end table where the lamp sat and it (the lamp) crashed to the floor breaking four of the six panels. Beth was devastated, and I saw dollar signs! After she recovered from a good cry I told her I'd find some way to have the glass replaced and proceeded to box up the metal shade frame and base..........and that's how it sat for almost nine years. Oh sure, I'd research websites from time to time, even promised myself I'd get it done in time for Christmas (nine times!!!). Len, I must have dwelled on your website half a dozen times over those nine years and talked myself out of pulling the trigger on the repair for one reason after another, until I finally said (to myself) enough of this!. The panels are everything you said they'd be! Beautiful doesn't begin to describe the look, and pleased doesn't begin to describe how thrilled my wife is to have her lamp back out on display! I hope my comments and the pics are sufficient to build on the reputation and business of your company and wish you nothing but the best now, and in the future. And one more thing: the constant dialogue you established with me via email (early on) was wonderful, I assumed nothing, you told me everything.....every step of the way.....that counts volumes!! Take care Len! Be safe and stay healthy!
To Len----Our blind friend, Ervin Meadows, recently obtained this early Art Deco table lamp from James Humphries of Humphries Antiques in Poplar Plains, Kentucky. I tried to explain all the intricate details to Ervin, but once he put his hands on the lamp, he knew that’s the one he wanted. James procured the original paint, matching lamp and shade from a Fleming County, Kentucky estate. The six panel bent caramel marbled glass shade accents rare matching botanical elements to the beautiful bronze trunk base. Temperature change during transport created a hairline crack in one of the panels which prompted the search for expert help. Thankfully, glass artist Len Daley came to the rescue. After a few phone calls, multiple pictures and emails, we lovingly packed the shade in double boxes and sent it to Len. Len masterfully re-created the broken panel, restored the shade to its original beauty, and had it back to us in about a week!
Ervin enjoys his lamp on his 1850s Art Deco style table next to his bed where he turns it on first thing every morning and turns it off last thing at night. Ervin has used his hands to “see” the lamp since being repaired and can’t believe he’s not able to tell which panel was replaced. He’s very proud to show his lamp to anyone who comes to visit. Many thanks to Len for restoring a lamp that will bring many more years of enjoyment!
Hi Len,
My lamp looks so beautiful! It came yesterday. I washed the shade and I’m so thrilled with it! I can’t thank you enough. My friend, who gave it to me, may want it back but no dice!! I may have purchased it from her for a very small amount. I can’t remember as it was years ago. I used it for awhile and the glass just started breaking and then the wiring blew out. My husband stuck it in the storage room for a few years until my friend asked about it. Her asking prompted me to look into restoring the lamp! I am so grateful I found you, Len. This is a lost art and you are extremely talented! Thank you so very much again.

My wife loves slag glass lamps and has a number of them in our home. She was pretty upset when the one pictured began to fall apart and when I offered to repair it myself alarms rang. It didn't take a day for her to scour the internet and find your service. We took a leap of faith because it's not typical for us to rely on email and a printout instructional PDF to begin the process of repairing such a delicate piece of artwork. However, we could tell by your emails that we'd made the right decision to trust your expertise. Your knowledge and experience were communicated so clearly in every correspondence that our initial trepidation evaporated pretty quickly. The top ring that holds the shade in place had separated and one glass panel was glued together ruining the line of the shade. You were able to repair the damage. Great! To add to our satisfaction you took the repair a few steps further. You mended a previous attempt by someone who probably did the work more that 70 years earlier and reinforced the outer ring by securing it with wire. Also, you added replacement tabs to ones that had snapped years ago, and you reinforced the top ring with pins so it will never again separate. When I removed the shade from the box it was a completely new piece. Before your work I used to worry it might fall apart in my hands when I'd have to move it, but not now. It's solid and strong. The extra effort to preserve a piece of artwork is admirable. If any future client wants to discuss your work with satisfied customers, share my email. Thank you so much.
Len.
This lamp came from my grandmothers home in south Florida. When I inherited it after her passing, one of the panels had a crack in it. The crack had been there as long as I can remember. I don’t have a lot of history of the lamp but my mother said she remembered it as a child (my mother is 78) so I am guessing it has had a long life! I am privileged to own it and with Len Daley’s repair, it is in its true glory! The panel is fabulous!!! I am so thrilled!! Thank you, thank you!! You do have a talent that is not wasted and I am sooo glad I found you!!
Hi Len.
I was so happy to receive the 2 replacement panels for my 100 year old lampshade. They were perfect! Once installed you couldn’t tell the difference between the originals And the ones you were able to supply. The color and texture were perfect. I have owned this shade for 50 years and broke the panels when we moved. I love this lampshade and was so pleased that you were able to obtain replacement Glass. I thank you also for an estimate on the value of the shade. The photos I’ve sent show the new panels in place with the lights on and off. Thank you Len, like I said, when I saw your website I knew you were the guy to go to.
Dear Mr. Daley
I cannot tell you how pleased and relieved I am to receive the repaired lamp. The lamp belonged to my late husband's family. They lived in Philadelphia in the 1930's and 1940's. I am not sure when it was bought, but I am sure it was purchased in Philadelphia between 1935 and 1949. My husband was an only child and acquired the lamp when his parents passed away. Since my husband served in the military, it traveled across country with us from Philadelphia, to Upstate New York, to Alaska to San Antonio, Texas to Alaska, again. It remained intact and a prized possession of my family until it was damaged in the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Anchorage on November 30th 2018. If my husband had been alive at that time, he would have been devastated. Our daughters implored me to find out if it could be repaired. I am so happy and my daughters are thrilled that I found you and you were able to restore the lamp to its former glory. I cannot thank you enough. You may use my statement on your website or however you feel fit.
Hi Len,
I appreciate your feed back and of course the fast service. First let me tell you that I bought this lamp in Europe at auction! I bought it on a whim because in dealing in lighting from day one I have been buying & selling stained glass panel lamps. Of course I don’t hardly at all because the reproductions like everything else killed that market. In this case the lamp was unusual and just loved it. I was not given a condition report so I was gambling. The thing I knew from experience it was period. The shipping here cost me around $400.00 but I didn’t expect that at the time of purchase so I had to deal with that. Once I received it the first thing I noticed was one panel was broken off (which is the one) I’m replacing. The others were good! I also noticed the cord was cut off at that bottom so I had to rewire it. Tricky with 6 sockets but I could do it. Once I removed the bottom plate the word “Miller” stuck out. While it wasn’t marked Tiffany it was at least marked by a long time American lamp company. Everything I buy these days goes into my auction Treasureseeker Auctions LLC. This will be in my next auction as well as a Tiffany Studios leaded lamp and a Rare Morgan & Sons leaded lamp with hand painted roses. I thank you for your professionalism and look forward to doing another glass panel with you. I’ll let you know once I get back the replacements how they fit! website https://www.treasureseekerauction.com
Mr.Len Daley ,
Wanted to take a moment and stop to thank you for helping me fix a stained glass lamp shade. I will never forget your name, your professionalism, or your extreme talent! You obviously have an eye for perfection and cannot tell you how lovely the repaired lamp is! Thank you so much I am so satisfied! Cannot tell the old panels from the new ones! I am so happy that my search led me to you!
I encourage anyone and everyone who cannot find the level of vintage glass shade repair anywhere to trust their heirlooms with you I am so satisfied and impressed! It was a pleasure doing business with him and his talent is TRULY a gift! I give him 5 gold stars and highly would recommend him!!!! The photos show the repair but does not give the interaction or the incredible artistry justice!!!
Len,
What a terrific job on replacing the glass on the base of my lamp. It was my grandmother's who lived with my parents and me. The base glass fell out when I was moving it from one table to another. I searched all over the country to see who could fix and I was fortunate to find you. I was shocked to see how quickly it came back to me repaired and looked beautiful. Couldn't be more happier.
Hi Len!
Thank you so much for fixing my slag lamp shade! It was a wedding gift to my grandparents on their wedding day 12/22/1912.
I have treasured it since they passed and my uncle handed it down to me. Last fall I was re-arranging living room furniture and did not realize til too late, the lamp cord got stuck on couch leg. When it crashed I was devastated, heartbroken and actually nauseated! I looked for someone local, then statewide and couldn’t find anyone. Ran across your website and thank god! You were amazing! Through emails, and phone call, you guided me on boxing, mailing, etc. I was terrified letting it get out of my possession, but your ongoing support and guidance helped me, and off it went! Within the week, you were done, and on its way back! I almost cried when I got it back. Can’t tell it was ever broke! I am so very happy with your service! I thought pretty pricey, but to be able to have it fixed and back in my living room, is priceless! Would highly recommend you to anyone!
Good evening Len
I just wanted to email and thank you for the wonderful glass for our lamp. It looks even better than before. The dogs thank you so they are no longer in the dog house.

Len,
I received the glass panels today and was able to slide the new panel securely into the opening with minimal work. Lamp is back to normal and my wife couldn't be happier.
A little history. My wife's mother just turned 90 and she's starting to clean out a few things from her house. She gave this lamp to my wife the last time we were there visiting. My wife thought her mother picked it up at an estate sale 40+ years ago. It's been in her mothers living room with the missing panel turned to the wall for years. We aren't sure how/when it broke but we are pretty sure it was intact when she got it from the estate sale.
Hi Len, I'm having this lamp repaired for my sister-in-law, Paula. She has had the lamp for a long time and always loved it. A relative had broken the lamp and thinking that it was beyond repair, threw it in the trash. Paula retrieved the lamp and the intact glass panel. I told her that I would see about getting it repaired. I had taken it to two shops in CT. One was a lighting restoration business in Hartford. They said they don't handle bent stained glass and recommended a stained glass shop in Old Saybrook. I took it to the stained glass shop and was told that 1 would never be able to match the glass. They also said nothing could be done with the bent metal frame which was too bad because the lamp is an antique. They said that they didn't know of anyone that could repair it. That didn't sound right to me and then I found your business online! Hopefully all goes well with the repair, I am sorry about the 2 cracks I didn't see.
UPDATE: Lamp shade arrived safe and sound. It is absolutely beautiful. Paula was ecstatic and took it home last night. I have attached a couple pictures of the lamp base before rewiring just to show detail. Thank you for your prompt and professional repair of the lamp shade.
Hello Len.
Just wanted to thank you once again for the work you did on my lamp. You were right about the top filigree. Your work was spot on regarding the top. It looks great. I don’t have a lot of information regarding the lamps history. I just remember as a child sleeping in Grandmas bed with this light on. That was a while ago as I am 68 now. I hope to pass this one to family who will cherish it as I do.
Hi Len,
The panels look great! Thanks for being so prompt in getting them made and shipped, much appreciated. You will hear from Catherine when she receives them. I will contact you if I run into problems installing the panels; I'll probably be wishing you had booked a vacation to the Netherlands about then! Regards
UPDATE
Hello Len,
Wishing you all the best for 2019! I thought you would like to see the lamp with new panel finally in it's place. The panel is not perfectly fitted but good enough, hard to tell unless you know which is the new one. Thanks again for helping me get this lamp whole again!
Hi Len!
I am back from vacation and I promised you a couple of things. First of all the story on how my lamp got broken. It was an accident that happened one night after a very hard day of work in the heat out doors. I had a drink or two after my work (as usual) and when I stood up from the chair I was sitting in I blacked out (first time ever). When I did, I knocked the table the lamp and a planter were on and both broke. I was grateful your services were available to fix my accident. As for lamps we have, we inherited several from my folks who were collectors of antiques, and have added to them over the years. We have probably 10 at least in various slag glass configurations, from table to ceiling to floor lamps. We value them all! Attached is a picture of the lamp. It looks good, does it not?
My story for Len. My lamp was purchased back in the early 1950's from an antique store in Western Mass while I was stationed at Fort Devens. The lamp was one of the first purchases my wife and I made. Two months ago a tree next to my home fell destroying the roof, the living room and all my furnishings. I was on the phone most of the time with the insurance company and contractors for weeks. My lamp is a possession I can't live with out. Len and I talked on the phone expressing how to box and ship the lamp. Within two weeks my lamp was home and safe again. Len did a great job restoring my slag glass lamp.
My mothers slag glass lamp has been in our family for about 80 years. Much of the time in Nova Scotia. Four months ago our move West to Vancouver via a moving company (no names) broke several items including our lamp. Finding someone to fix our slag glass lamp was not easy and dealing with the moving company was just as hard. Over the internet, emails and pictures Len convinced us to ship the lamp back east to Rhode Island.
WOW, I thought this lamp had a lot of miles and past history, what am I doing? The day he received the lamp he sent pictures assuring us it was safe with no further damages, including pictures of the glass he was going to use. Within a week we had several more pictures of the bent glass panels and the completed work. The following week our lamp arrived safely back in Vancouver. If not for Canadian customs it would have arrived two days earlier. Len's services are rare and finding someone with his skill set was a blessing. My mom is so happy to have the lamp home again.
Hi Len
Below is my testimonial
I broke this lampshade in January of 2015. I took it to a shop which had made a similar repair many years ago. In January of 2019, after numerous promises that they would get the repaired shade back shortly and assurances that no one else, anywhere, could do as good a job, I retrieved my lampshade. I googled stained glass repair, reconciled that I would have to pay to ship the shade somewhere. Len was one of the people I contacted. When I realized he was not even an hour away from me, I honed in on him, mostly to save the shipping fees. I was concerned about color and texture of the repaired glass. Being able to see the glass that would be used, helped to put my mind at rest that the repair would look appropriate. I dropped the shade off on a Friday. Two days later, Len contacted me that the repair was completed. From three years untouched to three days to completion! Len sent me a photo of the shade and I had to look really hard to pick out the repaired piece. Even in person, it took a bit for me to pick out the new glass. Len is extremely knowledgeable about historical glass and its repair. His work was excellent and certainly speedy, which shows care and consideration for his client. Also, the price was fair. Do not hesitate to trust Len with your heirlooms or modern glass pieces.

Hello Len
Thank you so much for restoring our family's 110 year old slag lamp. We had this lamp in our family when we were children. During those early years with five children three glass panels were broken. After quite a few years that the lamp was stored I found your website. The lamp turned out great and I am unable to tell which shades were the originals. The glass frame was bent with several cracks which were repaired. Also, you rewired the electrical components from aftermarket wiring back to the period wiring. Thank you for including a spare glass panel. The repair was done in a timely manner and you answered all my questions. Well done Len!
Len repaired a lamp for me that had 2 glass panels broken. My mother bought this lamp in the early 80's and it was in my family's living room for 30 years until my mom gave it to me when I bought my first house. She loved the lamp and I knew just how much it meant to her. Recently 2 of the 6 panels were broken when someone accidentally elbowed it. I knew it could be repaired but would have been devastated if the glass could not be matched and I would have had to go with a different look.
Len was able to not only match the glass but I cannot tell, just by looking, what pieces were original and which are the replacements. I was so relieved to get the lamp back and see just how well done the repair was.
Thanks Len - appreciate the care you took in repairing the very special lamp.
Len,
Sorry I took so long to get back.
We are very happy with the way the lamp turned out.
I can remember the lamp in my Great grandparents living room when I was a small child. 40''s 50's 60's.
It then went to my mothers dining room in the 70's 80's 90's 2005 we had to put mom in a home.
It was put in our living in Pa. till we moved to the beach in 2015.
We believe the lamp was bought around 1920.
We thank you for the great job you did for us.
We are so thrilled! We can’t believe we found you, Len! You are a true artist and craftsman. The lamp shade glass turned out beautifully and we can’t believe you had the exact color match for the glass repair. We shipped it to you and had it back safe and new in a week! We lost a panel when it was smashed and thought we would have to settle with just turning the lamp around leaving the gaping hole on the backside of the lamp or worse, not using it at all. As far as we can tell this lamp has been in our family since the 1910s with my great grandparents. Now this lamp will have a life for generations to come. Thank you Len for your fine work.
Hi Len, Kevin Garvey here, Sharon’s brother. I picked up a lamp from you about a month ago. I’m sending you Before and After pics (I think you took the Before ones). Neither Sharon or I know much about the history of the lamp, just that we remember it being in the house of our maternal grandparents in the small town of St. Charles, MN when we would visit there every summer for several years in the ‘60s. Sometime between 1968-70 it was given to our mother and remained in our parents’ bedroom in Falls Church, VA until recently. I may have to send the pics over multiple emails. Thanks again for your efforts, the lamp looks beautiful.
Hi Len
You did a window for our upstairs bath around 1996. We supplied a modern replacement window, and you replaced the glass with a stained glass piece of art.
As I remember it, you did not take photos of it as you typically did and asked that we take some. Photo technology has improved quite a bit since then. Even so, I am not the best photographer and the real look with early morning sun streaming through is much better than the photos show.
Just a note to express appreciation for your art and to show that 25+ years later your work is still giving joy.
Thank you,
